April? Really?

The last couple of months have been filled with lots of changes. I finished my semester at Chandler Gilbert (3.85!!!!), and started a new semester full of math classes, which is turning out to be as horrible as it sounds. I got a chance to spend some time with these cute kids while their parents were out of town. We had a blast!
We spent the week roasting marshmallows and having belly flop contests. We went to a Diamondbacks game, and even went to the Arizona Science Center for a day of learning!

I also started teaching sewing classes! So far it has been great. My students are learning so fast- I'm so impressed!!! The first week we made drawstring backpacks that they will bring to lessons every week. They turned out better than I could have hoped and I have lots of ideas for future projects.

I love teaching these cute kids! They are so fun and make me laugh every day.

I have made lots of new friends, too. We have so much fun together! In short...I love summer!

Busy Busy Dizzy

I know I haven't posted anything since Quilt Retreat, but I have been so busy with school I can hardly think of anything else. I am focusing on school at full speed, which doesn't always yield good results.

I'm just crossing my fingers that this semester will have a better outcome.

Since I have no time to write, I'm just going to leave it to those who are far wittier and eloquent than I am. This blog always makes me laugh, and I know you will love it.

Hopefully I'll have more time to blog when I have whittled down my TO DO list a bit more.

Alohamora!

I have always been OBSESSED with Harry Potter. Not in a geeky 'Star-Trek' kind of way, but in a 'I-wish-I-could-ride-a-broomstick-to-school' kind of way. I think that part of this liking has something to do with my freaky ability to remember movie lines after hearing them only once. I have always loved reading the books, and when the movies started coming out, my life only got better. I have recently discovered something that is going to make my life a dream Harry Potter wise. A HARRY POTTER THEME PARK IS OPENING THIS SUMMER!!!!! I've known that for a while now, but today I watched the Ellen Show and was pleasantly surprised, because as I watched, all of my wildest dreams came true. Take a look.

.."Yes, I do have the all time high
score in Harry Potter trivia."

.
Let's just say that I am already saving up my funds so that I can a) Get to Florida, b) Purchase a Gryffindor Cloak, c) Purchase a genuine wand from Olivander's (after all, he is the best wandmaker), d) Convince the owners to let me move into Hogwarts Castle.

Now all I have to do is wait for the Post Owls to come!

The Cosmic Question

I have recently realized that my life is a series of unfinished projects. For example, this blog laid stagnant for an entire month before I built up the courage to write on it. (Thanks again,Shawna for helping me!) Even now, I'm having trouble staying focused long enough to get my thoughts down. Just the other day, my Grandpa Collard (henceforth referred to as BAINO) called me, which he has NEVER done before, to ask me if I had started practicing the violin again. You see, I started playing the violin in elementary school, but I haven't played it for a few years, except for a brief time last summer when I was rehearsing for a musical number I was asked to play at my Grandma Spencer's funeral. Every time I see my grandpa, he asks me to start playing the violin again, but I never remember/take it seriously/find the motivation to actually do it. But when he called me out of the blue, I started taking it seriously. As I began TRULY thinking about my life, I realized that I have had, up until now, a problem sticking with things. I think it's because I hadn't discovered my passion in life. My predicament reminded me of a quote from one of my favorite movies, You've Got Mail-

"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void."

So, to answer my cosmic question, I have finally found my passion. I have found the thing that fills up my life and makes me want to be a better person. I have discovered what it feels like to SERIOUSLY enjoy going to school every day. I have decided to become an elementary school teacher. and I couldn't be more thrilled! From here on out, this blog will contain the joys and frustrations I experience as I turn this passion into a career. There also might be an occasional quilt post thrown in here and there. (don't worry, I'm not 90 years old, I just really like to sew.)

I have also decided to practice my violin more often, which I'm sure BAINO will be thrilled about.
